Shoreline Lake

Located in Mountain View California, Shoreline Lake is part of the City of Mountain View's Shoreline Park. Being located adjacent to the marshes of the San Francisco Bay, the lake can become covered with a huge variety species of shorebirds during migration periods. One can often find raptors taking advantage of the situation, and the park seems to always have resident Red-Tailed Hawks surveying the area. Moreover, once driven away from this area, the Burrowing Owl can occasionally be found in small burrows surrounding the park. Given its proximity to the windy San Francisco bay, early morning always seems to be a better time to visit for birding before the winds drive many of the birds into seclusion, and lake becomes populated with boats.
