The Approach - Black Bear - Kings Canyon National Park

Black Bear Cub, Kings Canyon National Park, CA. While watching a mother and her cub alongside the trail, I had taken off my backpack and wandered about 25 feet down the trail. This cub eyed my backpack (probably thinking "food") then started toward it - with me in the middle. A flurry of sticks, pine needles, and finally a stone to the head sent it running back to its mother, who looked annoyed the cub wasn't following her lead.
