In march 2007, I made a solo backcountry skiing trek to Hilton Creek Lakes from Little Lakes Valley in the Eastern Sierra. Camping at 10,000 feet adjacent to one of the frozen lakes, I listened to the ice shift over the lake and coyotes howl in the distance. A beautiful short ski tour into the High Sierra.
