Greenstone Lake - Hoover Wilderness

Sunrise near the eastern shore of Greenstone Lake in the High Sierra. Greenstone Lake is located on the southern end of the Hoover Wilderness within by the Inyo National Forest, adjacent to the border with Yosemite National Park. North Peak (center) provides the backdrop to this High Sierra Lake, while nearby Saddlebag Lake provides easy access via a short boat ride or hike as well as a campground and supplies. This photo was taken on a short overnight backpacking trip in which we were treated to the sunset of our lives the previous night. The morning alpenglow light lasted for only a short time before the clouds moved in to the east.
