Rock Ptarmigan - Yosemite National Park

Rock Ptarmigan, near the southern border of Yosemite National Park. Hiking cross-country in a remote are of Yosemite National Park, several of the red and golden rocks through which I navigated appeared to move. It was only a few moments later I realized those rocks to be a flock of four Rock Ptarmigan grouse. Their plumage blended into the landscape almost seamlessly, and at one point four turned into three - it was only when I stood up to leave that I spotted the fourth sitting only a few feet in front of me.
